Hope

Standard

I’ve figured out that the worst feeling you can ever have is hope. You start out hoping that someday, maybe, by the grace of God you’ll be loved by the person you love most. You hope and you pray for it every night and day by day it rips you apart and leaves festering wounds that kill you slowly and leave you traumatized and scared of everything around you. After a while you start to loose faith in yourself but somehow you still hope. You reach for it like a life ring that gets pulled away from you every time your close to it, then you drowned. I have to remind myself every night that I’m just another girl, another toy, and not enough.

SUCCESS!!!!!
I got my drivers permit today, which is looonnnnggggg over due. Yay Me!!!
Any way I still had time to make this little gem:

20120125-223945.jpg

It’s super easy
You will need:
2 used dryer sheets
Card stock
Pins
Hair clip
Beads
Needle
Thread
Scissors

20120125-224610.jpg

1.) Cut out 2 circles from the card stock

2.) Fold each dryer sheet separately and pin a circle to each one to use as a cutting guide.

20120125-224815.jpg

3.) Remove the paper but keep the stacks of dryer sheets together.

20120125-224947.jpg

4.) Stack together and begin to sew on the beads going through all the layers with each stitch.

20120125-225105.jpg

5.) Flip over and sew a hair clip onto the back being careful not to go the whole way through the layers.

20120125-225308.jpg

You now have a super beautiful hair clip!

Some of my resolutions were to save money, dress better, craft more, and write more. I’ve been able to combine all of these into a 15 day plan to craft an accessory with stuff I have on hand or can buy cheap, and write a how-to. So hear was day one.

A pin made out of dryer sheets.

20120124-221405.jpg

What you need:
2 dryer sheets
Silver glitter pen
Small beads
Pin back
Needle
Thread

1.) Cut 2 of each circles out of the dryer sheets in graduating sizes. You can use any sizes you want. My biggest was 3 1/4 in. and the smallest was 1 1/2 in. You will have a total of 8 circles in 4 sizes.

20120124-222016.jpg

2.) Take 1 each of the 3 biggest and rim the edges in silver glitter glue, set aside to dry.

20120124-222318.jpg

3.) Cut narrow strips the width of the 3 big circles and crisscross over the circles without glitter.

20120124-222517.jpg

20120124-222532.jpg
(note: normally I would advise against crafting in bed but I did this so I could use straight pins in the mattress to keep everything straight while I worked. Just make sure not to leave any pins behind!)

20120124-222809.jpg
4.) Sew the small beads to the 2 smallest circles (stacked together) in any pattern you like (I did a flower)

20120124-223103.jpg
5.) When the glitter is dry stack the parts going glittered big, big with crisscrossed strips and then each graduating circle in that order then sew them all together.
6.) Sew a pin on the back.

YOU’RE DONE. Wear with pride!

230 cookies

Standard

When I was little I loved Christmas. Actually last year I loved Christmas. The big difference is last year I had a job and could buy gifts. This year I can’t afford Taco Bell. Last year I had some one to celebrate with. This year even my moms gone until the 22nd.  And I Know Christmas isn’t all about the gifts but really I just feel awful when people have gifts for me and I have nothing to give them.  So today I decided to stop hatin and start bakin. Since I have a very limited income I decided that every one on my holiday list is getting cookies (and a few small gifts I brought home from Romania). So today I started my holiday baking with my aunt and a cousin plus L & E. We spent all evening  in the kitchen and ended with a total of 230 cookies so far. Yes so far. I’m still not even half done! I find myself in much more of a holiday spirit now that I know that there will be some delicious cookies to hand out and I got some bonding time with my family.

Now to do some future career research,

OH SO BAD!

Standard

I’m getting started on my resolutions early this year!

So clearly I’m really, truly, very bad at staying current on things (A.K.A. flaky)

A few examples could be:

  • This blog
  • my other blog
  • the 7 half-finished journals on my bookshelf
  • my to-do list
  • the box of dead dreams
  • everything else i never came through on

So there’s your proof.

I really would like to get better at this (and a few other things) so im starting to use this blog to keep me accountable for what im supposed to do.  I was originally going to use it to remember the highlights of my travels but, well, that fell through so here i am. And in all hokeyness aren’t we just traveling through life? So i suppose its fitting. 🙂

There are 3 things i would really like to pursue in the upcoming year:

  1. My creative writing course
  2. Midwifery
  3. General self-improvement

and really I wouldn’t mind getting a date or 2 along the way but that’s not a goal per say.

So here is my oath of non-flaky

” I Hannah Leona here by swear to update this blog regularly. Or at least as often as I watch Glee reruns.”

Whoop!

Pray for me!

Hello world!

Standard

I was going to delete Hello World as the post name but i actually thought it was very fitting because this whole blog will be about my trip to Romania.

Im leaving on Sept. 3rd for a 2 month trip to Romania to work in an orphanage. this will be the 3rd time ive gone to Romania but the 1st since they got any kids it and im really excited!

There is so much i have to do before i can leave but luckily a few weeks ago my church decided to bless me with $1000 dollars for my plane ticket and i’d sold $200 dollars worth of cupcakes which meant i only had to pay $70 for and my boyfriends parents covered that. Since the biggest expense has been paid for there no chickening out now.

I have a lot of stuff to do and only 22 days to do it!
